The white flag has worked for centuries, because a human being sees it and understands it. With a machine we have no such certainty, because an autonomous system does not think the way we do, and no one can guarantee that it will recognize that gesture.
HF SIGNAL 01 exists to remove the doubt. It is a red flag with a white circle, a white light pulsing at 7 Hz, a radio tone at 144.0 MHz. The message is the same as the white flag, but in a form that sensors can detect clearly.
